Robinson impressed as Corby grind out a win

Elliot Sandy’s goal five minutes into the second half ultimately proved decisive as the Steelmen came out on top in a hard-fought encounter.
It means the Steelmen will be able to sit down for their Christmas dinner knowing they hold a five-point advantage at the summit.

“I just wanted the guys to play in the right areas because there were always going to be mistakes made.
“I thought we slightly edged it in the first half but I felt our tempo took over.
“I asked the lads to step it up another 15 to 20 per cent and they did in the second half.

“However, I am pleased with all of them and the fact we are top of the league at Christmas is incredible.”
Robinson also reserved praise for the volunteer groundstaff who put in the hours to help get the game on.
The Steel Park pitch was waterlogged on Friday but passed a morning inspection to enable the game to go ahead.

“If it wasn’t for them, the game would have been off. It was underwater on Friday and then we came in and it looked fantastic. Full credit to those guys.”
The Steelmen’s festive fixtures continue on Boxing Day when they make the short trip to take on Yaxley (1pm kick-off).
