The midfielder, who played a key role in Diamonds’ play-off push in the Southern League Division One Central last season, has returned to the club having been at King’s Lynn Town this campaign.

Quigley will now be in the frame to feature in Diamonds’ clash with second-placed Witton Albion this evening.

Andy Peaks’ side dropped out of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South play-off places at the weekend.

Their home clash with Stocksbridge Park Steels was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and Leek Town took advantage as their 2-1 win over Loughborough Dynamo lifted them into fifth place.

With 12 games to go, Peaks is still firmly focused on securing an extended season for his team.

But he knows they will be up against it this evening against a Witton side who are still in with a chance of catching long-time leaders Shaw Lane.

“We have got 12 big games left but this is probably the biggest test we have faced so far,” the Diamonds boss said.

“This will be the first time we have played Witton this season and having spoken to plenty of people, there seems to be a real belief that they are the best side in the division.

“It’s a massive game. They have given themselves a chance to win the league. They are clearly a very good side who are going to run Shaw Lane close.

“But we need the points as much as they do. We have got 12 matches to get the points we need to get us in the play-offs but the pressure is definitely on us because we have lost our last two.

“As much as we wanted to play the last two matches that were called off, it has given us a chance to regroup and add a couple of good players to the squad.”

Quigley’s return to the Dog & Duck follows on from Jack Bowen rejoining Diamonds on loan from Brackley Town last week.
