Andy Peaks insists AFC Rushden & Diamonds will 'regroup' this week as they prepare for the final push for promotion in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central.

Diamonds remain on top of the table but had their lead cut to just one point after second-placed Kings Langley claimed a deserved 1-0 win at the Dog & Duck at the weekend.

Peaks’ team were well under par in the game but the manager won’t be dwelling on it for long.

Diamonds have 10 games remaining this season and Peaks is targeting victory in all of them as his team bid for a second successive promotion.

The first of those is at Potters Bar Town on Saturday and while Peaks’ knows his team’s defeat at the weekend will have the other title chasers now fancying the chances, he has backed his players to recover quickly.

“Kings Langley will fancy their chances as I am sure both Egham and Royston will as well,” the Diamonds boss said.

“We have got 10 games left and we’ve got to look to win all of them and see where it takes us.

“This will be a long week but there are a few aches and pains so it will do some of the lads good to have a bit of a break.

“We will regroup and go again like we always do. We have got a good group. To win leagues you have to deal with setbacks and we will try to do that.

“We will train this week, we’ll get the focus back, we’ll put smiles on faces and we will be ready to go at Potters Bar on Saturday.”
