The new football season gets under way tomorrow (Tuesday) night with the extra preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Burton Park Wanderers have had to withdraw from the competition after one of their players tested positive for Covid-19, forcing the rest of the squad and management team to seek a test and self-isolate for the next 14 days.

They had been due to play AFC Sudbury in a game that had been chosen for live broadcast by the BBC.

Sudbury now receive a bye into the preliminary round where they will host either Wellingborough side Whitworth or Harborough Town on September 12.

The Flourmen play host to the Bees at London Road this evening while the three other local teams are on the road.

Desborough Town travel to Eynesbury Rovers, Rothwell Corinthians go to Stowmarket and Wellingborough Town head to Thetford Town.

The United Counties League Premier Division and Division One seasons get under way next Saturday.
