Law: Poppies can still do something

It has been a stop-start period for the Poppies since the turn of the year with a number of matches, particularly at home, falling foul of the weather.

But, after suffering two defeats in a row at Hungerford Town and Weymouth, Kettering got their Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division campaign back on track with an excellent 2-0 success at second-placed Chippenham Town on Saturday.

The victory, which came about thanks to goals from Spencer Weir-Daley and Wilson Carvalho, moved Law’s team back to within nine points of the play-off places with two games in hand on fifth-placed Hungerford.

The Poppies are now hoping to play Frome Town at Latimer Park tomorrow (Tuesday) night in what will be their first home game since December 5.

And Law feels the weekend win shows what his team is capable of.

“We needed a big result after losing at Hungerford and Weymouth,” he said.

“We felt we could have got something from those games but this win shows we are capable.

“It’s all about confidence and if we can get a run of matches, particularly at home, then I think more good results can follow.

“We have a lot of games to play and I still think we can potentially do something.”

The clash with Frome is followed by another home date with Dunstable Town, who are also chasing the play-offs, next Saturday.
