Law hopes Poppies' '˜slump' is over ahead of a huge test

After an indifferent and frustratingly inconsistent first three months of the season, the Poppies’ Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division campaign is showing signs of life.

Saturday’s 6-1 victory made it three wins in a row for Law’s men as they moved into the top eight of the table for the first time since September.

But they will find out just how far they have come at the weekend when they make the trip to take on second-placed Slough Town, who have tasted defeat on their own ground just twice in 12 outings in the league this season.

Law has admitted the Poppies’ slump went on for too long but now he is keen to see his team keep their revival going.

“We will just work towards the next game,” the Poppies boss said.

“I am sure Slough would have been watching us at Cirencester and looking at our set-pieces and how we have been playing.

“It’s a different game and in a different environment on an artificial surface and they are really going for it this season with the signings they have made.

“I am pleased we have come through the slump but I am disappointed it went on for longer than it should have done.

“It’s been our home form that has been the problem but looking at the last seven matches, it’s good to see a couple of home wins in there.

“We have done well recently and now we have to keep it going.”
