Steve Kinniburgh was a happy man after Corby Town crushed league leaders Bromsgrove Sporting 6-0 at Steel Park

The Steelmen produced a sensational display as they hammered Evo-Stik League South Division One Central leaders Bromsgrove Sporting 6-0 thanks to goals from Joel Carta, Jordan Francis, Sam Grouse, Elliot Sandy, who scored twice, and Miles Smith. The stunning success ensured Corby maintained their unbeaten league record and, having moved up to second place, they can now go top if they secure a home success over Aylesbury FC on Saturday. The win sent out a clear message to the rest of the division with Kinniburgh having made no secret of his ambition to launch a big push for promotion. And the delighted Steelmen boss said: “If you look at our results in September when we went on a great winning run, I think that sent out a message.“Everybody knows that when Corby come to their town or when they come here they are in for a tough game.“Bromsgrove are a good team and they will be there or thereabouts. They have a lot about them.“They changed their shape to try to nullify us but we were bang on it.“We are not looking to sit in the middle of a league table, we are looking to be at the top end and to do that you have to perform game in, game out, week after week.“You have to keep going and do the right things. When you have that collective performance you will win more often than you lose.“It’s a credit to them that we have turned up for the biggest game of the season so far and performed like that. And that is mental toughness for you.”The Steelmen had fought back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at Dunstable Town at the weekend, a result that left Kinniburgh asking questions of his team. But those questions were answered in emphatic style. He added: “If I didn’t think we had it in us then I wouldn’t be putting question marks out there because I believe we have everything that changing room needed to have performances like that and do it regularly.“And that’s my big thing, the consistency of it. Doing it more often than we have.“We might not win by as many as that every week but if we can get that level of heart and desire and understanding of our positions then the more they will be on the right end of the result.”
