Kettering Town's midweek trip to old rivals Boston United has been postponed.

The Pilgrims squad has gone into self-isolation following a positive Covid-19 test, which resulted in today's Vanarama National League North game at AFC Fylde being called off.

The Poppies had been set to be the first visitors to Boston's new stadium on Tuesday night but the game will now have to be re-arranged, as will the Pilgrims' clash with Spennymoor Town next weekend.

It has been a wretched few weeks for the Pilgrims.

United, like the Poppies, have already isolated for a two-week period following six cases in the camp earlier in the season, which meant the club had to withdraw from the FA Cup as they couldn't play their clash against Hemel Hempstead. Kettering also had to withdraw from the competition for the same reasons.

On top of that, Boston's growing backlog of fixtures has not been helped by the clash at Bradford Park Avenue being postponed twice due to floodlight issues at the Horsfall Stadium and last weekend's match at Chorley being called off due to the Magpies' FA Cup involvement.

Boston finally took to the turf following a 10-day absence on Tuesday, leading Darlington 2-0 with 87 minutes played before an injury to Nicky Hunt saw the match abandoned with seconds left on the clock. At present, the Pilgrims look set to return to action on November 28, when they are due to travel to Blyth Sparans, exactly four weeks since their last competitive match, a 1-0 win at Southport.

The Poppies will not have to wait as long and they will be looking to bounce back from today's 2-1 home defeat to Curzon Ashton next Saturday when they are due to host Blyth at Latimer Park.
