Paul Cox believes Connor Kennedy will have “a fantastic career in the game” if he continues on the same trajectory.

While the early stages of Kettering Town’s Vanarama National League North campaign have proved, on the whole, to be tough, midfielder Kennedy has been a standout performer.

His tenacity in the middle of the pitch has been there for all to see ever since he made the switch from Corby Town to Latimer Park last year.

But this season he has added more goals to his game.

He scored his fifth of the season as the Poppies picked up an impressive 2-0 victory at Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday night to make it three matches without defeat.

And Kennedy’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed by his manager.

“I think he is maturing,” Poppies boss Cox said.

“I have spoken to him a lot about his positional sense and he has played in a slightly more offensive position.

“The one thing he is doing now is adding consistent goals to his game, which will only benefit him.

“But I just think the kid is a really good player and he’s only going to get even better.

“He wants to listen, he wants to learn and he shows the right application and desire in matches but also on the training pitch.

“He trains like he plays and he is infectious to everyone else. I see him as a model pro and if he carries on as he is, he is going to have a fantastic career in the game.

“His work ethic is unbelievable. I don’t want to jinx the boy but I think he is growing as a young footballer.”
