Kettering Town are facing a blank weekend after their scheduled home game with Blyth Spartans on Saturday was postponed due to a positive Covid-19 test in their opponents' squad.

The news was confirmed this afternoon (Tuesday) as Blyth's Vanarama National League North clash at Spennymoor Town tonight was called off.

Blyth will now enter a period of isolation that means their next three games, including tonight's, will have to be rearranged.

The clash between the Poppies and Blyth at Latimer Park has already been rescheduled for Saturday, December 5.

It is the second match Paul Cox's team have seen fall to the pandemic this week after their game at Boston United this evening was called off due to a positive test in the Pilgrims' squad.

A statement from Blyth Spartans said: "Blyth Spartans AFC can confirm it has received a positive Covid-19 test.

"As a result, the club will enter a period of self-isolation and has postponed its National League North matches against Spennymoor Town, Kettering Town and Boston United.

"The club will return to action when York City are the visitors to Croft Park in early December. The fixture may be moved back 24 hours from its original date, subject to the agreement of both parties.

"The away trip to Kettering has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 5."
