Go and make it happen, urges Poppies boss Law

The Poppies head into the third of seven successive home matches on the back of a 1-1 draw with St Neots Town at the weekend, which left them seven points off the play-off places in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.

But Law insists that, with the games in hand and still having to play teams above them, Kettering “are in control” of their destiny.

However, the Poppies boss is keen to see his team enhance their attacking game this evening against a Stratford side who sit just seven points above the relegation zone and who are managed by former Kettering midfielder Carl Adams.

The Poppies boss said: “We need to stop waiting and hoping for things to happen. We have to be pro-active and make it happen for ourselves.

“When we have taken the game to the opposition we have always come good.

“We need to re-engage our attacking abilities and get teams on the back foot more.

“We are in control of our own destiny so why not give it a go?

“And if it doesn’t come off, at least we can always say we went about it in the right way.”

Law confirmed captain Brett Solkhon will miss tonight’s clash after he was withdrawn early on in Saturday’s game after a recurrence of a hamstring injury initially suffered in the 2-0 win over Paulton Rovers last week.

But full-back Liam Bateman could be back in contention after four weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.
