After a crucial win over Shrewsbury on Good Friday, Town were brought back down to earth with a bump when swept aside 3-0 by table-topping Hull City at the KCOM on Easter Monday.

But fortunately for Jon Brady and his players, results around the grounds in League One were kind as Swindon, Wigan and AFC Wimbledon all lost while Rochdale drew.

“I do think the lads have a look at the other scores,” admitted Morris. “But for us, mentally and psychologically, we just need to make sure we take care of ourselves.

“We’re coming out of the Easter break in a better position than how we went into it. I don’t think we turned up on Monday to be honest and we’re better than what we produced so we do feel disappointed about that.

“It’s a deflated changing room but it’s one of those where we just need to get it out of our system and move onto the next game quickly because we have a big game on Saturday.”

The importance of Town’s next game has only been ramped up further by Bristol Rovers’ victory over Doncaster Rovers. The Gas are now only two points behind the Cobblers ahead of Saturday’s meeting at the PTS.

“Obviously it’s a vital game now that we’re coming towards the end of the season,” said Morris.

“There aren’t many games and many points left to play for so it’s important to get as many points on the board as possible.

“Although we were beaten on Monday and didn’t show a good account of ourselves, we will be confident going into the weekend.

“Our home form is good and we know if we turn up in terms of our attitude, our application and our desire and just looking to get on the front foot with energy and intensity, we can beat anyone in the league.

“For whatever reason, we didn’t do that on Monday. We struggled in midfield and there was a lot of running to do.

“Credit to Hull, they’re a good team and move the ball well, but to be honest I thought we made them look good. We didn’t get close enough to them and maybe showed them too much respect.

“It’s important we now move on quickly and get it out of our system.”
