Clark's brace sends Shopmates second

The victory moved the Shopmates back into the second promotion place after Rushden & Higham United suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Olney Town at Hayden Road.

Fellow high-fliers Buckingham held a 1-0 half-time lead at Kiln Park but Clark struck twice in the space of eight minutes to give the Shopmates the points.

The Lankies, meanwhile, had their five-match winning streak ended as Olney fought back to clinch victory after Nat Gosnal-Tyler had given the hosts the lead.

Elsewhere, Burton Park Wanderers lost 5-2 at Blackstones while Thrapston Town drew 2-2 with Bugbrooke at Chancery Lane on Friday night.

Rothwell Corinthians fought back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at second-placed Holbeach United in the Premier Division.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Corinthians hit back in the second half with Callum Plowright’s goal giving them a share of the spoils.

Wellingborough Town squandered a 2-0 lead as they were beaten 4-2 by St Andrews at the Dog & Duck.

Deven Ellwood fired the Doughboys in front from 25 yards and they were looking good when Carlos Lewis doubled the advantage.

But the visitors hit back and went on to secure the victory.

Whitworth, meanwhile, slipped to a 4-2 defeat at Yaxley.

Despite taking the lead, the Flourmen found themselves 4-1 down before pulling another goal back late on.
