Bradshaw has one target for Desborough in the UCL Cup

Ar Tarn return to action tomorrow (Saturday) when they take on Premier Division rivals Sleaford Town at the Waterworks Field with a place in the quarter-finals on the line.

Desborough’s league clash at Harrowby United last weekend was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It was a break that Bradshaw welcomed for his high-flying team.

But he wants to see them return with a victory as he seeks his first piece of silverware since becoming manager of the club.

“To be honest, it was an enjoyable weekend off because we have had a lot of matches recently and the break came at a good time for us,” the Ar Tarn boss said.

“But we are looking forward to tomorrow and it is going to be a tough game. We haven’t done too well against Sleaford since I have been at the club.

“This is a competition we have targeted and it’s one we want to go and win.

“If we can get through this game then we are in the quarter-finals and then the draw opens up a bit.

“The fact is that at the present time, we are the highest placed side left in the competition.

“Our aim was to make Desborough competitive in the UCL Premier Division and we are on the road to doing that.

“But we would love to get a bit of silverware so the message to the players when it comes to this competition is simple – go and win it!”

Wellingborough Town have the unenviable task to of trying to stop title favourites Peterborough Sports this weekend.

Sports will arrive at the Dog & Duck with a five-point advantage at the top of the UCL Premier Division, having won 16 of their 18 league games so far.

The Doughboys go into the clash on the back of a 4-0 defeat at in-form Deeping Rangers last Saturday.

But assistant-manager Stuart Goosey insists his team will do all they can top stop the leaders.

Goosey joked: “If you’ve got any ideas on how to stop them then I’d love to hear them!

“You can’t take anything away from them, they have good players and a big budget and they move the ball around really quickly.

“But you have to go into it in a positive frame of mind otherwise there’s no point playing.

“We will have a game plan and we will try to stop them.”

After an encouraging start to the season, Wellingborough now sit in the bottom half, eight points above the relegation zone.

And Goosey believes the Doughboys have the games coming up after their clash with the table-toppers that will give them a chance to solidify their mid-table position

“We have a run of games coming up after this weekend in which we should be capable of picking up some points.

“At the start of the season I told the lads I didn’t want another relegation battle.

“I want us to be in the mid-table area.

“We are on par at the moment and we have the games coming up to stay there but that’s when it will be up to me and Jon (boss Mitchell) to ensure the mindset is right.”

Rothwell Corinthians return to UCL Premier Division action this weekend with a trip across the county to take on Cogenhoe United.

Corinthians had their hopes in this season’s Buildbase FA Vase ended as they were beaten 2-1 by 10-man Tring Athletic in the second-round tie at Sergeants Lawn on Wednesday night.

The visitors took the lead through Chris Stapleton’s header but Tring were reduced to 10 men when George Carbery saw red just before half-time.

But Tring doubled their lead when Sam Joliffe converted a penalty after a foul on Stapleton.

Lewis O’Dell gave Corinthians hope when he also scored from the spot following a handball 10 minutes from the end but the hosts were unable to find an equaliser despite piling on the pressure late on.

In the league, Corinthians sit in ninth place in the table and will be looking to make it three wins in a row after home successes over Oadby Town and Boston Town.
