Another big six-pointer for Doughboys as they try to pull away from bottom four

Wellingborough Town will be aiming to edge further away from the Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midlands Division relegation zone when they host fellow strugglers Boldmere St Michael's on Saturday.

It's another big clash at the Dog & Duck for Jake Stone's side, who were indebted to a late equaliser from Charlie Green to secure a share of the spoils in last Saturday's 1-1 draw with play-off hopefuls Anstey Nomads.

That result saw the Doughboys sitting 16th in the table, three places and three points above the drop zone.

Saturday offers up a great chance for Borough to put further distance between themselves and the bottom four as they take on a Boldmere side sitting second from bottom - but they are only four points adrift of Stone's side.

Boldmere have found a bit of form recently, winning two of their past three league matches, but prior to that they had lost six matches on the spin to drop into relegation trouble.

The Doughboys do need to be wary of their visitors though, as Boldmere have actually picked up more points on their travels this season than they have at home, claiming four wins and a draw from their 10 road trips to date.

Stone will have been happy with his side's persistence last weekend as they secured a draw against fourth-placed Anstey.

The Doughboys looked to be heading for a defeat as the visitors took the lead on 63 minutes when Courey Grantham got across his marker at the near post to score from a right-wing cross.

But Borough plugged away and were rewarded when Green prodded home after a goalmouth scramble to level things up five minutes from time.

Following Saturday’s date with Boldmere, the Doughboys have a free week before going to Mickleover on December 13.
