Andrade at the double as Diamonds win again, while Green pops up late for Doughboys

Bruno Andrade scored twice as AFC Rushden & Diamonds produced 'a brilliant away performance' to secure a 3-0 Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midlands Division win at Coleshill Town on Saturday.

Andrade netted a 16th-minute penalty and then scored a sweet free-kick two minutes before the interval to make it 2-0 at the break.

Joe Davies added a third 11 minutes after the restart to secure the win for Diamonds, who backed up their 2-0 midweek win over Rugby Town at Hayden Road last Tuesday and have now moved up to 14th in the table, and six points clear of the drop zone.

"That was a really professional, brilliant away performance," boss Elliot Sandy told @AFCRD.

"I thought Coleshill were really good, and it was a really tough game, but we defended brilliantly and then probably against the run of play we have pounced.

"We pressed high up the pitch, won the ball, got the penalty, and the Bruno has also put a free-kick in from 25 yards.

"It wasn't a game where either side created as lot of chances, but if you think of the game last week where we created six or seven chances and only took one, in this game we managed to be ruthless in both boxes.

"I don't think we were up to our standards in terms of quality and on the ball, but we were brilliant at keeping a good shape and winning those second balls, especially in the second half.

"We punished any mistake they made and we have defended brilliantly so it is really pleasing.

"That is back-to-back clean sheets, we are on a decent little run of form now so we will enjoy it."

Diamonds have a free midweek before they return to action with a trip to third-placed Baford United on Saturday.

Wellingborough Town are three places and three points clear of the relegation zone after a late Charlie Green goal secured a deserved 1-1 draw with play-off chasing Anstey Nomads at the Dog & Duck on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Anstey took the lead on 63 minutes, and looked to be on course an away victory.

That was until Green popped up to net five minutes from time following a goalmouth scramble to secure a share of the spoils for Jake Stone's side.

The Doughboys have a free week before returning to the Dog & Duck on Saturday with a home date against Boldmere St Michael's (ko 3pm).
