AFC Rushden & Diamonds will travel to League One opposition in FA Cup first round
AFC Rushden & Diamonds will travel to Sky Bet League One side Burton Albion in the first round proper of the FA Cup.
Elliot Sandy's side reached main draw of the competition for the first time with a superb 2-1 win over Step 2 side Morecambe at Hayden Road on Saturday.
They will now make the trip to the Pirelli Stadium to take on the Brewers, who are managed by Gary Bowyer, have enjoyed a good start to the season and sit 10th in the third tier.
Sandy and his players had been keeping their fingers crossed for another home draw or a plum away tie against one of the big boys in league one, such as Leicester City or Sheffield Wednesday, or even a clash with county neighbours Northampton Town.
That didn't materialise, but the draw is still an attractive one for the Step 4 side.
Elsewhere, the Cobblers ended up with an away tie at fellow league two side York City, while Leicester will go to non-League Oxford City.
The draw was made on TNT Sports, with Martin Keown and Fara Williams doing the honours.
The first round ties will be played over the weekend on November 6-9.
