Jim Mallinder’s men, who had already beaten Bedford, Moseley and Edinburgh, recovered from an 8-5 half-time deficit to claim a 21-13 victory at Donnybrook Stadium in Dublin.

It sets Saints up nicely for next Saturday’s clash with Exeter Chiefs on the opening day of the Aviva Premiership season.

And Elliott, last season’s young player of the year, was in good spirits after his side added Leinster’s name to the list of sides they have beaten during pre-season.

“It’s been a good pre-season,” said the talented wing. “We’ve done well each game, won all our matches, which we wanted to do.

“It’s looking good going into our first Premiership game, it’s positive.

“Leinster didn’t want to let their home crowd down so they put their hearts on the line and we just had to keep knocking at the door.

“It’s quite hard, with the chemistry always changing when players go on and off, but that’s pre-season for you, you’ve just got to get used to it.

“The coaches are trying out different combinations and it’s good. It’s good to play with different players.”
