The tighthead prop made his first start for Northampton at Newport last weekend, scoring a try in the 34-16 LV= Cup success.

Saints dominated up front with the fledgling front row of Denman, Mike Haywood and Ethan Waller making mincemeat of their Dragons counterparts.

That laid the platform for a fine away success and Denman feels this weekend’s fixture will also come down to who can land the biggest blow up front.

“There’s a big rivalry between Northampton and Saracens and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Denman.

“I think it will come down massively to how the packs perform. We’ve just got to get dominance and go from there.

“We had a good front row out at Newport and we stood up and showed what we could do.

“I wasn’t surprised by how dominant we were. In ‘A’ league games we get to play together so we are used to each other.

“We trained during the week for what we thought they were going to do and I thought we adapted to it quite well. All three of us performed.”

Denman’s display was made all the more special by his sliding score in the corner.

And the former Rotherham Titans front row forward admits it was a huge moment for him.

“It was massive,” said the 23-year-old. “There were a lot of Saints fans there and I got to speak to them after the game. It’s just massive for me really.

“A try is pretty rare for me so, especially on my first start, it was great.”
