White a happy man as Steelbacks bounce back strongly

“It was nice to bounce back and it was a good allround performance.”

That was the view of Cameron White after Northamptonshire saw off Kent by five wickets in the Yorkshire Bank 40 under the County Ground floodlights.

White was at the forefront of the victory with an assured 65 in the successful chase of Kent’s 188-7 and he had words of praise for the bowling attack.

He said: “I think it was set up by the bowlers who did a pretty good job as Kent had the best of the batting conditions and it was as a good effort to restrict them to a score that we could chase down.”

That was followed by, the last few overs aside, a relatively clinical performance with the bat that was dominated by a third-wicket stand of 132 between White and Kyle Coetzer who made 90.

White added: “Kyle and I were talking all the way through about how it would be difficult for any new batsmen to start and the ball was geting a bit dark by the end so it was nice to put on a few with Kyle who batted brilliantly.”

Next up are Holland on Thursday for another game that the Steelbacks can’t afford to lose, a fact that White is well aware of.

“We knew that we had to win all three and we know that each one os a big game. We won’t underestimate Holland who have got a few good players,” he said.

“I’ve played against some of them in Australia and they beat Warwickshire the other day so they’ve definitely got to be respected.”
