Steelbacks to face Surrey in final showdown

Northamptonshire will face Surrey in the final of the Friends Life t20 after the Londoners beat Hampshire by four wickets in the second semi-final at Edgbaston.

Chasing a target of 143, Zafar Ansari struck the winning boundary off the second ball of the final over as Surrey, who had threatened to make a hash of things, scampered over the line.

Zander de Bruyn played a key role as he made a calm and unhurried undefeated 41 from 40 balls to ensure a score of 71-4 didn’t become fatal to his side’s chances.

Earlier in the piece, an efficient performance with the ball had restricted Hampshire to 142-9 with only Sean Ervine (47 off 32 balls) offering much resistance.
