Skipper Peters signs new deal with County

Stephen Peters has signed a new deal with Northamptonshire

The opening batsman led the County to promotion in the LV= County Championship in his first season as captain, scoring 735 runs at an average of 52.5.

Peters said: “I am absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract.

“Last year was superb for all involved with the club.

“I’m proud to have played a part in that success and look forward to helping the club progress even further in the next couple of years.”

Head coach David Ripley added: “Stephen’s influence on last year’s success was immense, he has the respect of everybody in the dressing-room, from senior players to debutants.

“I look forward to working with him, building on last year’s promotion, as we prepare for life in Division One.”
