In a relatively straightforward event that passed without incident, other changes included the pair of Allan Lamb and George Howard being accepted onto the club’s board.

The former is well-known to the club’s followers while the latter, who is an architect by trade, will be responsible for the ongoing development at the club’s headquarters.

Along with the construction of a permanent stand in front of the outdoor net facility, this will include overseeing the renovation of the Turner Suite and the erection of broadcasting pods on top of the Lynn Wilson Indoor Centre with both of these projects due to be completed in time for the 2015 season.

Speaking about Warren’s rise from vice-chairman to chairman, chief executive David Smith said: “I think he’s a very good choice.

“He’s done the job for the past 12 months effectively so there is not really much change there.

“Martin (Lawrence) has done an excellent job in his tenure and we all thank him for his efforts and Gavin will continue the good work I’m sure.”

Ian Peck will replace Warren as vice-chairman.
