The heavy rain on Saturday ensured just a handful of matches went ahead in the Northants Cricket League

It was a virtual washout in the Hevey Building Supplies Northants League as heavy rain hit the county last weekend.

Just five matches across the 15 divisions produced a result with the rest of the games being abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Remarkably, three matches were played out on Saturday despite the adverse weather conditions.

In Division Eight, Brigstock 2nd claimed an eight-wicket success at Geddington 3rd.

Batting first, Geddington needed contributions from David Goodjohn (42) and Mark Pearson (37) in their middle order to get them to a total of 159-8 in 45 overs after John Udall (3-16) had made early inroads for Brigstock.

The reply, however, proved to be fairly straightforward as a second-wicket stand of 101 between Harry Howell (68no) and Sat Singh (63) set Brigstock on their way to reaching the target on 161-2 in the 34th over.

Just under 38 overs were required to produce a result in the Division Nine clash between MK Air 2nd and Kettering 3rd.

MK Air were skittled out for just 65 in 20.4 overs and it would have been worse without the efforts of opener Sharad Kumar (34).

Vishal Sharma produced remarkable figures of 5-6 from 4.4 overs for Kettering while Tim McMillan (4-2-13-4) was also in impressive form with the ball.

There were few problems in the short chase as Ethan Smart struck 26 before Kierten Kooner (14no) and Jeremy Lines (14no) saw Kettering home on 66-2 in 17 overs.

Pytchley and Stony Stratford 5th managed to play out a 20 overs a side match to produce a result in Division 13.

Batting first, Pytchley finished on 119-3 with Kishor Patel batting throughout for an unbeaten 49 while Joe Daniel (23) and Marc Brigginshaw (20) also contributed.

And it proved to be enough as Stony were restricted to 82-3 from their 20 overs. Derrick Iseton made 48 but it wasn’t enough to prevent Pytchley sealing a 37-run success.

The only other games to survive were on Sunday as Isham & WI 4th secured an emphatic 178-run success at Barton Seagrave 3rd.

Aryan Patel (54) and Oliver Rolf (54no) both made half-centuries and Nithya Babu added 39 as Isham put a decent total of 227-4 on the board in 40 overs.

And Barton had no response as they were skittled out for just 49 with only two batsmen making double figures as a remarkable spell from Mihir Patel (3.2-0-4-5) helped send the visitors to victory.

Northampton Saints Saints 3rd were two-wicket winners over Carrib United 2nd in a low-scoring Division 12 game.

Abid Zia hit 45 as Carrib were bowled out for just 116, with Thomas Litchfield taking 2-27 and Finley Wake 2-23.
