Waldouck’s contract at Northampton at the end of this season, and he will make the move to the Madejski Stadium.

Saints paid a fee to release Waldouck from his contract at Wasps in July 2012, but a series of injuries have hampered the 27-year-old, who has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot.

He has made 43 appearances for Saints, scoring one try, but Luther Burrell and George Pisi have been cemented as the first-choice centre pairing.

And with James Wilson and Tom Stephenson again set to fight it out with Burrell and Pisi next season, Waldouck would have found chances limited again.

First though, he will set his sights on finishing his career at Saints on a high.

And with his former club Wasps heading to Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday, there will be another chance for Waldouck to stake his claim for more starts before his move to Irish.

“I want to perform well this weekend, train well and put my hand up,” said Waldouck.

“What this club has achieved in the last couple of years has been amazing.

“We’ve carried it on this year and to be part of that has been a real privilege.”
