I tried Dermalogica’s new £145 Phyto Nature E2 serum and saw brighter, smoother skin in just over a week – here’s why beauty fans are calling it a game-changer

Dermalogica is a brand I use and trust which makes the launch of their latest product - Phyto Nature E2 - all the more exciting.

And having seen the visible improvement this new leave-on serum has made to my skin, I'm certain that this will become a standout product for the brand.

Dermalogica’s Phyto Nature E2 is a daily exosome and enzyme product, priced £145. Full transparency - I had to Google "exosomes" - but it seems they're tiny yet clever particles that carry important biological instructions from one cell to another, like little messengers. In this case they signal skin to renew and rebuild.

The product also contains pumpkin enzymes whose job is to remove dead surface cells. The two Es work together to encourage cell regeneration which has an impact on how bright and smooth your skin looks and feels. The serum's primary aims are to tackle visible signs of ageing, dullness, uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles.

My verdict? This is a remarkable product that has made a significant difference in a relatively short time. Phyto Nature E2 is designed for mature or prematurely ageing skin. The skin's ability to renew itself slows as we age which changes its tone and texture and can lead to fine lines and dullness.

The texture of the serum is silky and lightweight, making it easy to work into your daily routine. Apply it morning and night after cleansing. One squirt is enough to cover your whole face so the 100ml bottle lasts as long as 2-3 months, so it's more cost effective than many high-end serums. In fact some fans of the product are applying it to damp skin and using half a pump, helping it to last even longer. Think of it as a serum-textured leave-on exfoliator that you don't rinse off. I made sure I left it to soak in a good while before moisturising.

After just eight or nine days of twice-daily use, I could see why so many beauty lovers have been looking forward to the launch of this latest Dermalogica product. My skin looks more refined, softer and more luminous. Those exosomes and enzymes had certainly been busy.

Not a surprise, then, that the product has already notched up dozens of five-star reviews on Dermalogica's website.

The serum is housed in a solid purple bottle, befitting the solid results it delivers. It's the perfect example of how Dermalogica focuses on longevity - helping skin function well for longer - not quick fixes.

The brand's research and development vice-president, Dr. Bob Bianchini, said: “Phyto Nature E2 helps boost surface exfoliation and visibly restores skin smoothness and radiance. In collaboration with our research colleagues at Unilever, we’ve developed a next-generation formula that delivers a sensorial experience with visible, lasting results. Today’s consumers aren’t just looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, they’re seeking advanced formulas that support the skin’s natural renewal."
