These are the best and worst UK cities to rent a pet-friendly home
Searching for a property to rent with pets in tow doesn’t always come easy, with some cities proving better than others for renting options that allow pets.
But Towergate Insurance has analysed the UK’s 25 largest cities by population figures in order to determine the most ‘pet-friendly’ locations for renters.
Southampton most pet-friendly city
The research reveals Southampton as the UK’s most pet-friendly city for those renting property, performing well across all areas, with lack of rent price ‘penalties’ for pet owners and a lower estimated number of neighbour complaints regarding pets.
Nottingham and Manchester came in second and third place respectively, with Derby taking the fourth spot, and Birmingham ranking in the top five.

London came last in the list overall, performing poorly across all 10 criteria points, with Swansea, Glasgow, Cardiff and Leicester also ranking towards the bottom of the list.
