Wellingborough Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (WAODS) is putting on an evening of song, dance, comedy and magic this weekend.

It is hoping that people will show their support for Variety Showtime at Glamis Hall in Goldsmith Road, Wellingborough, starting at 7.30pm on both Saturday (November 12) and Sunday (November 13).

Roger Osborne from the group said: “Why not buy a ticket (or more) if you have not already done so.

“Not only to enjoy the show, but also to help WAODS get back on it’s feet after this difficult year.”

Mr Osborne spoke to the Northants Telegraph earlier this year when the future of The Castle theatre was uncertain.

After The Castle (Wellingborough) Limited, which ran the theatre, was put into administration in April, Mr Osborne said it had left various societies ‘out of pocket,’ including WAODS.

Mr Osborne said at the time that the generosity of ‘one or two donations’ had helped the group clear its bills from putting on Singin’ In The Rain at The Castle in March, but it would take a lot of fundraising to get back the money which he said the group was owed.

Tickets for this weekend’s show cost £10 for adults and £5 for children under 16-years-old

If you would like to buy tickets in support of the group which has been running for more than 100 years, they are available from WAODS committee or association members, or by calling either 07801 708818 or 01933 682013.
