Wellingborough academy is county's highest performing secondary school

Students and staff at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy are celebrating being named the top secondary school in Northamptonshire following the release of the school performance tables today (Tuesday).

The progress made by students at the Wellingborough academy has improved further placing Sir Christopher Hatton in the top three per cent of schools nationally.

The tables show its Progress 8 score as 0.76, putting it ahead of Southfield School in Kettering with 0.71 and Northampton School for Boys at 0.65.

Brooke Weston Academy in Corby and Bishop Stopford School in Kettering were also in the well above average category for Progress 8, scoring 0.61 and 0.55 respectively.

CEO and executive principal of Sir Christopher Hatton Victoria Bishop said: “I am immensely proud of all at Team Hatton.

“These results are a testament to the hard work of our students, staff and support from parents and the community.

“This continues Hatton’s journey to ‘beyond outstanding’.

“With enrichment activities embedded in the curriculum at Key Stage 3 and our incredibly successful ‘HBacc’ recognising achievement in the broadest possible sense, I am delighted that our diverse educational experience continues to be rewarded by outstanding achievement.”

Director of secondary standards Andrew Wilson added: “This is another incredible set of results for Sir Christopher Hatton Academy and demonstrates the dedication of our staff and students.

“Our students’ strong achievement across the full range of subjects, enables them to be in the strongest possible position when making decisions about their next steps and future life choices.

Sir Christopher Hatton Academy, which is rated as outstanding by Ofsted, is having a sixth form open evening at 6.30pm on Wednesday, November 7.
