Water leak causing lengthy delays on A509 at Isham

Motorists travelling on the A509 at Isham are facing severe queues today (Tuesday) because of a water leak which needs to be repaired.

Two-way traffic lights are currently in operation on the major route with police also at the scene this afternoon.

Slow traffic is reported to be all the way back to Great Harrowden.

One angry motorist who passed through the works said: "It was ridiculous. There didn't seem to be anyone doing anything apart from there being lights.

"It's very annoying. There isn't much water there. It's right by where they're building the new warehouse park."

An Anglian Water spokesman said: “Our teams are currently working to repair a leak on the edge of the A509 at Isham.

"Two-way lights are currently in operation to allow our staff to complete the necessary repairs.

"Our teams will be working through the night in order to return things back to normal as quickly as possible.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience and thank local road users for their patience while we make these vital repairs.”
