Police have arrested 13 people as part of an operation to tackle the supply of Class A drugs in Kettering.

The arrests have taken place over the last two days and have also seen a large amount of drugs and weapons recovered.

Nine men and four women were arrested in an operation led by Detective Sergeant Tom Griffin.

He said: “Sixty officers from Northamptonshire and Leicestershire executed 20 Misuse of Drugs warrants at properties across Kettering.

“We arrested 13 people as a result of the operation, 11 for drug offences and two for firearms offences.

“During the searches officers discovered drugs believed to be crack cocaine, amphetamines, cocaine and cannabis, as well as two air pistol hand guns, pepper spray, a hunting knife and cash.”

Police took action after an increase in drug related violence in the town in recent months.

DS Griffin added: “There has been an escalation in drug-related violence in Kettering in recent months and we are determined to stop this issue getting worse.

“We will continue to target those people believed to be involved in the supply of drugs and would like to speak to anyone can help us make Northamptonshire the safest place in the country.”
