Van badly damaged after thieves tried to hotwire it in Rothwell
A van was badly damaged when thieves attempted to hotwire the vehicle parked up near Sandy Hill Farm in Lamport Road, Rothwell.
The van, which had broken down with a flat tyre, was parked on the side of the road.
It was locked and undamaged when the owner left the van at about 11.30pm on Thursday, October 27.
But when the owner returned to recover the vehicle the following day (Friday) at about 6.55am, he noticed it had been damaged.
The front driver’s side quarter glass was broken, the windscreen was damaged, the ignition cowling had been pulled out and the wires damaged in an attempt to hotwire the vehicle.
It is believed that the suspects would have used a vehicle to get to the rural location where the van was parked.
