The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has awarded the UK Quality Mark for the quality and standards of provision at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education following a review last November.

A team of QAA reviewers visited Tresham University Centre and judged that its academic standards, the quality and enhancement of its student learning opportunities, and the quality of information about its learning opportunities all meet UK expectations.

The review identifies the development of professional practice skills through the use of live assessment briefs as an example of good practice.

The review also made some recommendations for improvements, including ensuring that entry requirements are consistently applied to support progression, ensure a consistent and comprehensive approach to induction and the provision of course information.

Andrea Finkel-Gates, director of strategic curriculum operations at Tresham, said: “We are delighted with the outcomes of the recent Higher Education review which are a credit to the hard work, honesty and professional integrity displayed by our staff and students.

“The judgements made by the review team support our ambitions to expand the Tresham University Centre in north Northamptonshire, capitalising on our strengths in student support and employer engagement.

“We will continue to work hard to further enhance our already successful provision and enable more people to study higher education in and around the county.”

QAA’s Higher Education reviews are carried out by experts from other universities and colleges.

Every review team includes a student reviewer because QAA believes that students should be involved in the quality assurance of their education.

The team that reviewed Tresham’s University Centre comprised of Mandy Hobart (EThames Graduate School), Mike Ridout (independent reviewer) and Kanyanut Ndubuokwu (student reviewer from Goldsmith International Business School).

A successful review means that the college can display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating to UK and international students that the college meets national requirements for standards and quality.
