Two massive barn blazes in Northamptonshire are being treated as arson by investigators

Police have today (Monday) confirmed they are treating as arson two massive barn blazes in the county over the weekend.

More than 20 firefighters from Moulton, Kettering, Wellingborough and Burton Latimer were called to a fire involving 1,200 tonnes of baled hay at a farm in Orlingbury Road, just off the A43 at Hannington.

The road from Hannington to Orlingbury was closed overnight as the blaze was dampened down.

More crews from Rothwell, Desborough, Kettering and Brixworth also death with large barn fire containing straw at Farndon Road, Little Oxendon, after being called out at around 3.30am.

Northamptonshire Police confirmed both incidents are being treated as arson.

A spokesman for the Force's Rural team said: "Anyone with information regarding these incidents, please make contact. The long term destruction and loss for the farmer following these incidents is heartbreaking for them."
