Detective Inspector Louise Hemingway said: “We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was driving northbound between junctions 18 and 19 of the M1 between 5.10am and 5.30am as well as anyone who drove through the scene of the collision.

“We are also interested in talking to anyone driving on the M1 at that time who may have dashcam footage.

“If those drivers could please contact us to let us know what they saw, including whether they saw any vehicles driving erratically, that would be very helpful.”
