TRAFFIC: Night-time closures for A6 near Irthlingborough this week

A number of night-time closures are taking place on the A6 this week.

The closures are part of the ongoing £24 million improvement works at the A45/A6 Chowns Mill junction.

Speaking about this week's road closures, Highways England said: "To take advantage of the reduced traffic numbers, from Wednesday 13 January 2021 we will close some lanes at the A45/A6 Chowns Mill junction, in all directions, making the junction 'single lane running only.'

"These measures will deliver less overall impact on the road network with fewer full night time closures, whilst allowing more room to be able to progress and carry out our work safely.

"A6 night-time closures are necessary for safe removal of the existing traffic management system."

The A6 will be closed from 8pm until 6am between the Nene Park roundabout at Irthlingborough and the Chowns Mill roundabout tonight (Wednesday), tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday (January 15).

Signed diversions will be in place during the closures.

Last month the Northants Telegraph reported how good progress was being made on the improvement scheme, which started last February and is due for completion in winter 2021/22.
