The works will involve excavation and reinstatement of the footpath as part of the new David Wilson housing development.

This means a southbound lane restriction will be in place for five weeks from The Avenue to Thorpville for the safety of motorists and workers.

Funded partly by the Government’s Local Growth Fund through SEMLEP, the new section of dual carriageway between Round Spinney and the Moulton roundabout opened fully last month, bypassing the old road to ease congestion and improve journey times.

The new stretch of road is part of a £27million scheme to remove traffic hotspots on the main route connecting Northampton and Kettering.

One section of dual carriageway north of Moulton was up and running in early 2018. The rest of the road is open, but running with single lanes in both directions.

The plan was for all partner organisations to complete any works in the area using the traffic management for the A43 improvement scheme, however due to Covid-19 some organisations were unable to continue which has resulted in utility works for the housing development being delayed.
