Lorry driver escapes with 'minor injuries' after pile-up shuts M1 near Northampton for three hours

Three lorries and a car were involved in a smash which shut the M1 for around three hours near Northampton last night (Thursday).

Fire crews from Northampton rushed to the scene, on the northbound carriageway between junction 15A and junction 16, the turn off for Daventry, just after 10pm.

But Northamptonshire Police today reported only one person, one of the HGV drivers, was taken to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

The road was closed until around 1am.
