Passengers through Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough have been warned to expect huge disruption on Wednesday morning (February 26) as part of the Midland Main Line is closed after a person was hit by a train.

Tracks are closed between Market Harborough and Leicester forcing East Midlands Railway services to take a 60-minute detour.

The train operator is warning of cancellations and delays to their morning services north of Kettering and advising passengers to check which trains are running using the National Rail Enquiries website or app.

An EMR spokesman said: ""At present the emergency services are on site dealing with the incident so trains cannot run in either direction between Leicester and Market Harborough.

"Some trains will be cancelled, some trains will be diverted between Leicester and Kettering and will not be able to call at Market Harborough in either direction. This will add approximately 45-60 minutes to your journey.

"At present we have no estimate for when the incident will be dealt with and when the line can be re-opened. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again."
