Crash involving two LGVs closes one lane on A14 near Kettering on Monday morning

Two lorries crashed on the on the A14 on Monday morning, causing nine-mile tailbacks heading towards Kettering.

The smash at artound 7.30am blocked one lane near to Junction 1 at Welford and Highways England is warning it could take until early-afternoon to clear.

A HIghways England spokesman said: "One lane has been closed between the Catthorpe Interchange and the A5199. Traffic Officers and Northants fire & Rescue crews are currently at scene,

"Congestion is currently back to Junction 1 on the M6 and Junction 20 on the M1."

"Traffic was temporarily stopped due to the collision and there are currently 40-minute delays along that stretch of the motorway. If you are planning make an essential journey, we advise you avoid the area."

A spokesman for Northants Fire & Rescue said: "The RTC involving two large goods vehicles was attended by crews from Kettering and Rugby."
