A stretch of a Burton Latimer road will face closures next week for vital resurfacing works.

There will be a full road closure in Finedon Road, from the Higham Road/High Street roundabout to the Hillcrest Avenue junction, to allow the works to safely take place.

Several complaints about the state of the road have been made to Northamptonshire County Council.

One complaint on March 4 said the 'awful' road burst one of their tyres.

Weather dependent, motorists have been warned that the works will take place between 8.30am and 3pm on Thursday, March 18, and Friday, March 19.

Highways workers have asked people not to park on the carriageway in that stretch on the dates they are working, adding that access to properties may be restricted at certain times depending on works taking place.

Motorists will be asked to leave the area towards Hillcrest Avenue.

A Northamptonshire Highways spokesman said: "When programming works, we consider the impact on all pedestrians and road users and plan our works to minimise disruption.

"We do understand the closures will be inconvenient but works can only be completed safely and efficiently with this in place.

"We hope any inconvenience will be tolerated for the duration of the works, as this scheme will significantly improve the area."
