Police have reported a staggering 199 speeding offences detected in just one day at the Chowns Mill roundabout.
Drivers have been restricted to 40mph on the approach to the A45/A6 Chowns Mill roundabout to protect the workforce carrying out improvements to the busy junction which started last month.

During their first enforcement session yesterday (Wednesday), 199 speeding offences were detected including one driver caught doing 64mph.
A spokesman for Northants Police said: "We are working in partnership with Highways England to provide additional enforcement support on the A45 Chowns Mill roundabout improvement works, which is currently restricted to 40mph.
"We have received numerous reports of excess speed and inappropriate driving through the roadworks, increasing risk to the drivers themselves, the workforce and other motorists.

"The first enforcement sessions were carried out on Wednesday, April 29, at two of the enforcement locations, during which 199 speeding offences were detected with the highest speed recorded at 64mph, along with nine drivers not wearing their seatbelts.
"We would like to thank the motorists who are obeying the temporary speed limit in place, especially at this time when a collision would result in additional pressures on the emergency services.
"The 40mph restriction is in place to protect the staff working on the site and motorists using the route.
