The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth will be performing in the town at a concert organised by the Wellingborough branch of the Royal British Legion.

Several hundred tickets have already been sold for the concert on Saturday, March 5, at the United Reformed Church in High Street, but there is still time to snap up one of the remaining 150 tickets on sale.

Ian Nunney from the Wellingborough branch said: “At first we just thought we were getting a small part of the Royal Marines Portsmouth band, but there’s about 55 of them coming up now.

“We have still got a few tickets to sell, it looks like it is going to be a really good night.”

Among those attending the concert will be the Japanese Defence Attache, who was keen to return to Wellingborough after visiting the town for a VJ Day service and Poppy picnic last year, as well as Northamptonshire’s Lord Lieutenant.

Mr Nunney said: “If people still want to come, they have got to get in quick because tickets are going well.”

They can also be bought from Wellingborough Museum, The Hind Hotel in Sheep Street and AO Copy Bureau in Oxford Street.
