Second crash on M1 through Northamptonshire causing long tailbacks
Three lanes of the M1 through Northamptonshire have been closed following the second accident along the same stretch of motorway in a matter of hours.
Earlier today two lanes of the M1 southbound between junctions 15a and 15 had to be closed after a crash.
The collision caused serious tailbacks in both directions.
But now Highways England is reporting that a second crash involving a number of vehicles occurred on the northbound carriageway at around 4.30pm and shut off three lanes of the motorway.
Delays are starting to build and drivers are being advised to take alternative routes.
Currently the hard shoulder is being used to allow traffic to pass, but traffic is largely at a standstill back towards junction 14.
