Latimer Arts College in Barton Seagrave is closed to pupils in Years 8 and 9 today (Tuesday).

It follows a problem with the gas supply for the site, which came to light on Saturday when youngsters were attending sessions run by Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust at the school in Castle Way.

A spokesman for the school said: “Unfortunately two of our buildings have been temporarily without central heating for a short period of time.

“Our engineers have been working closely with our estates manager to resolve the issue.

Parents and students in the two year groups affected were contacted by the college as soon as the problem occurred and have been kept updated via email and through our social media feeds.

Students in those year groups who have had to stay at home have been provided with study work in maths, English and science.

“We hope to have all of our students back in class by Wednesday, February 8, and would like to thank everyone involved for their patience and support.

“Our remaining 700 students have continued their education on-site during this time.”
