Crimestoppers have this morning offered a reward for a man wanted in a connection with a robbery where a firearm was used to threaten the victim.

Police officers in Corby are hoping a £1,000 reward will encourage people to give them information to help capture Peter Tierney who is wanted in connection with the armed robbery that occurred in Cottingham Road on Sunday, December 13 (not, as originally reported, on December 18). Two Playstations and a mobile phone were stolen from a male victim.

Officers do not know the type of gun brandished at the victim, or whether it was capable of firing, but they are hoping that members of the public will come forward to help them apprehend Tierney, 39.

The victim was not physically harmed in the incident and the gun was not fired, but it has not been found.

A police appeal was first issued yesterday but today (Thursday, December 24) officers again asked the people of Corby to help them find Tierney.

Anyone who sees Tierney, or has information about his whereabouts, should not approach him, but call Northamptonshire Police immediately on 999.

This is only the second time in two years officers have offered a reward for a suspect in Corby. The last time was in June 2019 when, in an unconnected incident, brute Shaun Alexander threatened a taxi driver at gunpoint.- Another man, Tommy Devenney, 31, of St Peter's Way, Corby, has been charged with robbery in connection with the same incident and appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (December 22). No plea was entered. His case has been transferred to Northampton Crown Court where it is expected to be heard in the new year.
