Road closed in Corby after firefighters battle blaze in early hours of this morning

A main road in Corby is closed until further notice today (Wednesday) after a blaze overnight.

Firefighters sent five appliances to a Gainsborough Road at 3.22am following a 999 call to two shop units in the area.

Crews from Corby, Kettering, Desborough and Daventry batlted the blaze which was reported to be in the roof of the buildings.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue said: "Due to a fire at a premise, Gainsborough Road, Corby is closed in both directions until further notice between Blake Road and Gainsborough Court."
