Youngsters will have to wait a little longer until they can try out the new play equipment at this Wellingborough park.

Several parents have taken to social media to ask when the new play equipment at Eastfield Park, located between Gold Street and Finedon Road, will be open.

Many have questioned why it hasn't re-opened alongside other play areas following the government announcement that they could re-open from July 4 following lockdown.

And one parent posted online: "Eastfield Park playground still isn't open despite there being no visible workforce presence or changes in at least two weeks."

However, Wellingborough Council has said some snagging issues need to be resolved and the work inspected before this can happen.

A spokesman for the council said: "The play equipment has recently been refurbished and we are awaiting the completion of some snagging work that needs to be sorted before the play area can re-open.

"Once it has been inspected and we believe that it meets the standards set by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) then it will re-open."

And the spokesman added: "We are expecting that this should happen within the next two weeks."

The borough council provides a variety of play and youth facilities throughout Wellingborough and surrounding villages.

The inspection, maintenance and repairs of the play and youth areas is undertaken by Wellingborough Norse.
