Scarecrows and flower pot people popping up around Rushden

As well as making people smile, the town's newest residents are to promote a new garden competition being run by Rushden Town Council

Scarecrows and flower pot people have been popping up in various locations around Rushden.

Several members of Rushden Town Council and its staff have been getting creative in recognition of the town's newly launched garden competition, including the category for the best scarecrow/flower pot person.

With the good weather and time in lockdown, lots of people will have taken the opportunity to do some work on the garden and the council is keen to share the efforts of its green-fingered residents.

The competition categories are most improved garden (before and after photos needed), best flower pot man/scarecrow, best vegetable garden/allotment, best use of recycling in the garden, best children's garden and best overall garden.

The prizes will be a £50 voucher for the winner of each class to spend at West End DIY or Seasons Garden Centre in Burton Latimer.

Entries will be open ‪from today (Wednesday) until September 1, 2020‬.

All entries need to be emailed to [email protected] clearly stating what class you are entering your photos into.

A shortlist of entries will be drawn up by a panel of judges and the top 10 photos in each class will go to the public vote on Facebook.

Anyone entering the competition will be giving permission for their photos to be used on Rushden Town Council's website, social media and in print.
