Raunds library ready to welcome readers back this month

Raunds library is looking forward to welcoming readers back after being closed for several months.

The library in High Street, Raunds, will be re-opening on October 20 after several months of closure.

A spokesman for Raunds Community Library Trust said: "The library was one of those threatened with closure unless the community assumed responsibility for its operation.

"When Covid-19 arrived, the charitable trust was just about to take over the running of the library.

"The trust is pleased to say that with the support and co-operation of Northamptonshire County Council it is now possible to welcome back people into the library."

A range of services will be on offer, including:

- Library to You delivers books to the housebound or those who are shielding to reduce the risk of infection

- Call and Collect is a service that allows people to phone in their request and collect them from the door, without having to enter the building

- Browse and Borrow sessions will allow people to enter the building under strictly controlled conditions with the requirement to wear face coverings, maintain social distancing

and with numbers limited to four. However, it will not be necessary to book a slot

And the trust spokesman added: "New books accumulated over the lockdown means that there should be plenty to choose from for the avid reader."

Raunds Community Library Trust is a charity set up to operate the library using a team of volunteers drawn from across the town.
